it’s been a year since i last wrote on our blog. a lot has happened, lots i don’t have words for yet. our blog was always a fun place to hang out; a place to catch up on good memories. but many good memories haven’t been uploaded yet as i’m trying to get a grip on life again. i would like to make a new start, with some wicked news we have to share: we’re moving to australia! okay, most of you already knew this…
after a number of nerve wrecking weeks, steven has been approved as a full member of the australian orthotics and prosthetics association. he is now allowed to practice his work (most importantly: to treat patients) as an orthopaedic advisor in australia. he accepted a job as manager prosthetics and orthotics for hunter new england health in newcastle (nsw) and so after a couple of weeks of waiting – for our visas to be approved (which will probably happen within the next week or so) – in thailand and laos we’re now (and when i say now, i mean now! we’re currently in transit in kuala lumpur) on our way to sydney.
a few quick facts on the job:
- steven will be responsible for an area the size of england (that’s pretty big for a guy from a small country);
- hunter new england health is a government organisation, so steven will officially become an ‘ambtenaar’ (now that kevin rudd is prime minister this is the cool thing to do).
a few quick facts about newcastle:
- the city located about a 150km north of sydney and the weather is always nice (no more harsh winters!);
- it's surrounded by beautiful beaches, endless sand dunes and gorgeous green vineyards; la vita e bella!
- the port of newcastle is the world’s largest coal export port (someone has to top the list).

da's ff geleden, ik lees dat het goed met jullie gaat, gefelicitaart met je nieuwe job, da's een mooie uitdaging! hier is ook erg veel veranderd het afgelopen jaar, maar ik zal je helemaal bijpraten via de mail binnenkort, ik wil alleen ff weten of je mailadres nog het zelfde is, de mijne wel.
